Frankfort Rotary Youth fund, Inc.

Goal: To develop and sponsor major fund raising events, which support the established Rotary student scholarships. The principal fund raising event is the Rotary Golf Tournament.

Goal: To restore, promote, and assist in the operation of the Rotaract Club at KY State University. To develop a plan of interaction and support between Rotary and KSU campus.

Goal: To expand Rotary's involvement in sports through sponsorship, recognition and support for team players and coaches while investigating new opportunities in sports related activities.

Goal: To increase awareness for literacy needs within the Franklin County community. To promote, recognize and provide follow-up to local GED scholarship recipients and activities publicized and recruit volunteers for the Thornhill Learning Center.

Goal: Review existing community programs and services, represent Rotary on specific boards, and provide club awareness and education for the needs of local senior citizens.

Community Council

Goal: To serve as the Frankfort Rotary Club liaison with the Franklin County Community Council. This allows Rotary to share information on club activities and identify community needs.

 

Family Court
Polly Green, Chair

Goal: Encourage the purchase of children's toys by Rotarians to be donated to the Franklin County Family Court. Coordinate the collection of toys and transport/deliver to the court.

 

Salvation Army – Bell Ringing

Goal: To secure Rotary volunteers to ring the bells during the holidays at different locations in town.

 

Christmas Gifts/Meals

Goal: To provide local children and their families with gifts and food through the Kings' Center by encouraging Rotarians' donations and coordinating with Kings' Center staff.

 

"Bright Smiles" Dental Screening
Sally Lanham, Chair

Goal: Recruit Rotary volunteers and local dentists to participate in a one-day (school day) screening of local elementary school students. Work with local school(s) and "Bright Smiles" sponsors to organize the event.

 

Community Beautification

Environment

Goal: To assist in cleaning up Elkhorn Creek and to help Rotary to become more hands-on. Educate Rotarians on the latest in recycling and drop-off regulations in the county.

 

Adopt A Highway"

Goal: To collect trash along the 1 ½ mile stretch of Versailles Road between the intersection of US 60 and 421, and the East West Connector (676). The clean up will occur 2-3 times a year.

 

Heritage and Preservation

Historic Preservation

Goal: Inform the Frankfort Rotary Membership of news, events and preservation concerns in the local community. The committee will also generate Rotarian support of worthy preservation projects and initiatives.

 

 

Kentucky Historical Society-
Sponsorship Initiatve

Goal: To aid the Kentucky Historical Society and the Clark Center for KY History with visitation by grade school students at the Center. Specifically to provide funds to pay for transporting students from Franklin County Schools to the History Center, and promote Rotary members to become members for the Historical Society.
